This is 22 year old Shane Burcaw. He has a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that will eventually end his life. And that lovely lady on the left? Contrary to popular public belief, that's not his family member or his nurse. It's his girlfriend, Anna.

Shane’s outlook on life is more positive and humorous than most people you will meet in a lifetime. On his blog, Laughing At My Nightmare, he keeps an open conversation on his day to day life. Currently, having his first relationship is quite the hot topic, and this is how they are approaching it, with hilarious documentation!

Shane encourages open dialog on his blog covering just about any topic or question anyone can think of.

Someone asked for tips on how to date with SMA…this was his and Anna’s response. Did I mention Shane is also a published author? The pages of his book are filled with meeting adversity with honest humor.
